Portmarnock, view of Howth, Co. Dublin, Ireland

Welcome!
I'm Mel ... and I'm an artist.... I always loved to paint, mainly for myself. But thanks to encouraging friends I started to get some of my artwork out there.

Man in the Dark

Alanis Morissette sings Isn’t it ironic. Isn’t it ironic to suffer from insomnia while reading a book about a man who suffers from the very same thing lying awake in the dark making up stories? Am I making up my own story you may ask. My question would be in return: Isn’t everyone making up their own stories as they go along the way? With every thought that crosses our minds and every decision we make we write and are composer of our own stories. So lying awake in the dark with the noise of wind rattling through the trees determining the atmosphere I was wondering about my own story. With every decision we make, being it as simple as deciding to go left or right, we chose one possibility and determine all further outcomes from that point. Before we make that decision all options are open and the possibilities are endless but as soon as we pick one all the other ones are unimportant and gone.
